Before you cook

You need to be signed in to X

X only shows search results to logged-in users. The Open on X button sends you to x.com/search with the query filled in and the right tab picked: Latest for anything time-sensitive, Top for recipes that look for posts with traction.

Some operators aren't in X's help pages

X documents its advanced search form. Typed operators like min_faves:, filter:links or -min_replies:1 have worked for years and are widely used, but X doesn't promise to keep them. Where a recipe depends on one we are less sure of, the notes say so.

Too few results? Remove one ingredient

Strip out operators one at a time, starting with near:, a high min_faves: or a long exact phrase. Location filters return the fewest posts, because most posts carry no location.

Want the background? Start with the guide to X search operators, then saved searches and lists.

Guides

Questions

Do I need an X account to use these recipes?

You can read, fill in and copy every recipe without one. To see the results, you need to be signed in to X, because X only shows search results to logged-in users. The Open on X button simply opens x.com/search with the query filled in.

Are these search operators official?

Some are. X's help center documents the advanced search form, which covers exact phrases, OR, excluded words, hashtags, accounts, language, place and dates. Many typed operators, such as min_faves:, filter:links or -min_replies:, are not in X's help pages but have worked for years and are widely documented by researchers. X can change them without notice, so each recipe notes where we are less certain.

Where are my saved recipes stored?

In your own browser, using localStorage. Nothing is sent to us or to anyone else. If you clear site data or use a private window, the saved list starts empty again.

Why does a recipe return no results?

Usually the query is too narrow. Remove one operator at a time, starting with near:, min_faves: or a long exact phrase, or switch from Latest to Top. Location filters in particular return few posts, because most posts carry no location.

What happened to the old Quertweet user directory?

It's gone. The site was relaunched in 2026 under new, independent management as a search recipe library, and the old directory and profile pages were not carried over. Those addresses now return a not-found page.
